Readers react to state reopening plan that, for now, doesn’t include South Florida

Anxious to get back to business, worried that it’s happening too soon, demanding more testing, anticipating a caravan of South Floridians heading north. Reader reaction to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ plans to partially reopen Florida with the exclusion of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties runs the gamut from strong support to complete derision.

We asked readers for their thoughts on DeSantis’ plan, which was announced Tuesday in Tallahassee. While the rest of the state sees a return to some degree of normalcy with the resumption of activities such as elective surgeries in hospitals and restaurants reopening at 25% seating capacity, the governor’s blueprint for South Florida centers around increased testing for COVID-19.
