NBA lottery: How it works, how it has to work for Heat

So what will happen Tuesday at the NBA Draft lottery at the New York Hilton Midtown? The first-round fate of 14 teams, including the Miami Heat, will be determined by a process that for the most part will take place behind the scenes, prior to the start of ESPN's 8:30 p.m. broadcast.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Where: The actual lottery drawing to determine the first-round order of the 14 non-playoff teams for the June 25 NBA Draft in Brooklyn will take place in a separate room before ESPN's broadcast.

Who: Select media members, NBA officials and representatives of the participating teams and the accounting firm of Ernst & Young will be in attendance for the drawing.
