Down just seven points with 9:51 left in the game, the Miami Heat were hanging in there with the San Antonio Spurs.
That’s when things went south for the Heat.
Spurs guard Patty Mills was fouled by Beno Udrih after making a 3-pointer and made his free throw for the four-point play.
After the made free throw, Hassan Whiteside–in a moment of very poor judgement–threw an elbow at Spurs center Boban Marjanovic. He was given a flagarant two and subsequently ejected from the game.
The Heat went into that series of unfortunate events down seven points, and came out of it down 14.
