The Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s D-League affiliate, have swapped guards with the Idaho Stampede. The team announced it has traded Corey Hawkins for the player rights to Shane Gibson Thursday.
Hawkins, 24, was signed by the Heat and played sparingly in the preseason before being assigned to the Skyforce. Gibson, 25, is a 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Sacred Heart, where he played four years. He’s a solid and willing 3-point shooter, converting at a 39.8 percent clip and averaging over six 3-point attempts per game.
The Heat have made some changes to its D-League backcourt, sending rookie guard Josh Richardson to the Skyforce earlier this week.
