How the Miami Heat can win 50 games this season

When Miami replaced a two-time DPOY with a two-time scoring leader they won a championship

In the years Alonzo Mourning was a dominant force and won the Defensive Player of the Year, the Miami Heat did not reach the NBA Finals. When they acquired Shaquille O’Neal, the Heat won their first ring in 2006.

During his tenure Mourning lead the NBA in blocks twice, while in the championship season O’Neal lead the league in FG%. Oddly he ended up playing in only 59 games with 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. In games he focused primarily on offense, rather than defense.
