Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. injures shoulder after scary fall in preseason game

Miami Heat wing player Derrick Jones Jr. suffered a bruised right shoulder after taking a hard fall on a tip-in attempt with 6:01 remaining in the second quarter of Tuesday’s preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Jones did not return, but there was a bit of good news as the Heat announced X-rays returned negative. The 21-year-old, who is known for his leaping ability, hurt his shoulder as he tried to break his fall after jumping over a Hornets defender on a tip-in attempt that ended with him landing awkwardly on his right arm.
