Former Heat player Kasib Powell named Sioux Falls Skyforce head coach

The Miami Heat have promoted former player Kasib Powell to head coach of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, their G-League affiliate team.

Originally joining the team as an assistant coach in 2016, Powell was also named MVP of the NBA G-League (then the D-League) for the 2007-08 season. He averaged an impressive 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 40 games with 38 starts as the first ever Skyforce player to win the award. Powell becomes the 21st head coach in the 32-season history of the Skyforce, who joined the Heat as their affiliate team in 2013.
