Earlier today, the Miami Heat’s Twitter account released a video of Bam Adebayo’s clutch block on a Jayson Tatum dunk attempt in Game 1 of the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals. Undoubtedly, it is Adebayo’s signature career highlight — at least thus far. But the caption befuddled many Heat fans.
The block was one year — but two seasons — ago. The NBA’s unprecedented suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the restart into the summer, well into the typical NBA off-season. And after a short off-season, this most recent 2020-21 season ended July 20 — a month after the NBA Finals wrap up.
