Heat Rumors: Mario Chalmers contract update, cost-effective deal?

In today's Heat rumors and news update, Mario Chalmers' new two-year deal with the Miami Heat is a cost-effective one for the team as they continue to rebuild their roster through free agency.

Here's ESPN's Marc Stein with the lowdown:

Chalmers' well-documented struggles in the 2014 NBA Playoffs led to rampant speculation in NBA circles that Heat president Pat Riley would let him walk via the open market this summer.

However the six-year veteran point guard posted his highest points (9.8) and assists (4.9) per game totals since his rookie season in 2008-09, playing an integral part in helping the Heat get into position for their fourth straight NBA Finals appearance.
