Through camp there has been a quarterback competition with both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen going back and forth. Now with the first pre-season game closing in, Brian Flores has announced his starter.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has the experience and despite having an up and down training camp still holds a lead over Josh Rosen to start the season. While Rosen has closed the gap it will be Fitzpatrick that takes the field first. That is perfectly fine and the way it should be.
Fitzpatrick’s leadership is important and the right message is being sent to the team that competition will determine who starts at every position, the quarterback is no different.
