u200bThe Miami Dolphins have offered special teamer Michael Thomas an exclusive rights free agent tender (ERFA). The designation sounds ominous, but when you delve into the mumbo jumbo of the NFL rulebook, all this really means is that Miami values Thomas and wants to resign him.
Thomas went undrafted in the 2012 NFL draft, and was then signed by the San Francisco 49ers. He was cut before the regular season, then signed with Miami in 2013. He’s best remembered by Dolphins fans for intercepting Tom Brady with two seconds left to seal the victory over the Patriots in a 2013 game, which wasn’t a bad way to finish your first start in the NFL.
