CARLSBAD, Calif.–Jason Taylor was one of the best defensive players in NFL history and is a certain Hall of Famer. Cameron Wake isn’t at that level yet and can’t match Taylor’s longevity, but he’s establishing himself as a peer.
With 3.5 more sacks this year, Wake would match Taylor’s 80.5 for the most by a Dolphins player in his first eight seasons with the team. That’s despite missing 12 games and suffering a torn Achilles at age 33.
For context in that comparison, Taylor began his career with the Dolphins as a 23-year-old rookie in 1997.
