Laremy Tunsil has had his fifth year option exercised by the Miami Dolphins the team announced today. The option year is guaranteed only for injury but it gives the Dolphins some security should a long-term deal not be worked out.
For the Dolphins, extending Tunsil now makes a lot of sense. They have the cap space and by doing so this year will save themselves money. Traditionally salaries go up year to year so if the Dolphins want to save a couple of million or more, they should get him under a long-term deal now.
The Dolphins are also looking to extend Xavien Howard which would be smart given the fact he is still developing and is pretty good right now.
