One of the most important offensive plays of the overtime victory over Cleveland wasn’t an offensive play at all.
Dolphins punter Matt Darr set up Jay Ajayi’s winning 11-yard touchdown run with his 47-yard punt that went out of bounds at the Browns’ 9-yard line. After Miami’s defense eventually came up with a stop, forcing a punt, Miami took over at the Browns’ 44 and needed three plays to score.
Darr likes the idea of being an offensive punter.
“Absolutely,” he said. “Field position weapons, that’s what it’s all about.”
Determined to avoid a touchback, Darr angled his kick toward the right sideline.
