Miami Dolphins tight end Dion Sims, who started the team’s Week 6 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers and played two-thirds of the offensive snaps, was forced to leave Sunday’s game to be evaluated for a concussion. On Monday, it appears Sims has been entered into the NFL’s concussion protocol and could miss additional playing time as he works his way to medical clearance to return.
Sims, who assumed the top position on the depth chart with the concussion starter Jordan Cameron suffered in Week 3, also sustained a concussion last season. In that case, Sims was injured diving for a pass in the endzone in Week 1 and missed a month as he attempted to work his way through the protocols.
