Dolphins Rumors: Sean Payton Was Offered 4-Year, $100M Contract to Become Head Coach

Earlier this offseason, the Miami Dolphins heavily pursued Sean Payton to become the team's next head coach after he resigned from his position with the New Orleans Saints.

David ˜Hyde of the Sun Sentinel reports that the Dolphins were prepared to give Payton a massive contract that is typically unheard of for NFL head coaches.

"How big? Sean Payton was to be paid $100 million over five years as Dolphins coach, a league source said, with the idea of making him the highest-paid NFL coach after New England's Bill Belichick," Hyde wrote.
