Dolphins release veteran safety Bobby McCain

We knew when the Miami Dolphins drafted Oregon safety Jevon Holland in the second round. The plan for the future was to eventually move on from one (or both) of Miami’s veteran safeties.

Free-agent safety Malik Hooker then came in for a visit, making it seem even more likely the team had plans to further revamp their secondary before the start of the 2021 NFL season. A domino was sure to fall.

The first of those dominos fell minutes ago when the Miami Dolphins informed Bobby McCain they would be going their separate ways.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins plan to move on from team captain and starting safety Bobby McCain.
