Dolphins hire defensive coordinator Vance Joseph

The Miami Dolphins hired Vance Joseph to become their next defensive coordinator, a team source confirmed. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter was the first to report the news on Tuesday.

Joseph was formerly the defensive backs coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.

This move isn’t a surprise. New head coach Adam Gase had his sights set on Joseph since joining the Dolphins. However, the team had to wait until the Bengals were eliminated from the playoffs. Cincinnati lost, 18-16, to the Pittsburgh Steelers over the weekend.

Joseph becomes the second consecutive defensive backs coach for the Bengals who was promoted to defensive coordinator for the Dolphins, joining former defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle.
