Dolphins expected to sign CFL linebacker Deon Lacey to futures contract

The Miami Dolphins are going north of the border to find defensive reinforcements.

According to multiple CFL insiders the Dolphins have signed linebacker Deon Lacey to a futures contract. However, a league source says the deal isn't completed yet.

The Dolphins, which are preparing for Sunday's 1 p.m. game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, won't have Lacey, a former West Alabama standout, available to practice or play with the team this week, or at any point during the playoffs.

Lacey's contract will begin when the 2017 league year kicks off.

Lacey, who is 6-foot-2, 229 pounds, contributed 87 tackles, three interceptions and one sack in the 18 games he played for the Edmonton Eskimos this season.
