Dan Campbell's coaching career began with the Miami Dolphins five years ago, but it will be coming to an end this week.
According to a league source, Campbell won't return to the franchise he led to a 5-7 record in 2015 as Miami's interim head coach.
It is unclear if new head coach Adam Gase offered Campbell an opportunity remain on Miami's coaching staff, but sources say the Dolphins' long standing tight ends coach has other opportunities, and will explore them.
The Dolphins will release Campbell from his contract.
Campbell was one of seven candidates formally interviewed to become the organization's ninth head coach, but the selection committee picked Gase, the Chicago Bears former offensive coordinator, instead.
