MIAMI GARDENS–The Dolphins faced fourth down at the San Francisco 35-yard line midway through the third quarter Sunday, and that’s considered field goal time for most teams.
Miami was up 17-14 and decided against sending out Andrew Franks for a 52-yarder. Instead, coach Adam Gase opted to take a delay of game penalty and punt on fourth-and-26.
“I mean, they’re not going to jump,” he said of the 49ers defense. “That was my decision. I just felt like the way that (punter Matt Darr) seems to come through for us–It was a good punt. I think he slipped on the play.
