Dolphins News: Dan Marino Believes Miami, Ryan Tannehill Are Headed In The Right Direction

Miami Dolphins legendary quarterback Dan Marino was officially hired by the team on August 24th to serve as a special adviser, giving him an opportunity to be a constant presence at practices, games, and in quarterbacks meetings.

He's liked what he's seen so far.

“I thought (the experience) was great,” Marino said, via Dolphins.com. “I really enjoyed being around the players, being around the coaches, the excitement of that, going to the games. Just understanding what direction the team is going. I think we’re going in the right direction. We lost some close games that we could have won and would have made us a playoff team.

“To me, I’ve always been a very positive person and trying to be positive with what we’re doing as a team and I think we’re going in the right direction.”

A bit part of that optimism stems from the maturation of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who broke Marino's single-season franchise record with 392 completions in 2014.

“You know what, that’s just a sign of improvement,” Marino said. “He’s a kid that’s going to continue to grow. As time goes on as an offense, as he understands what they’re doing offensively, we’re just going to get better and better."
