BIMINI, Bahamas – The University of Memphis women's basketball team fell in the Bimini Division's Championship Game at the Junkanoo Jam Saturday evening to LSU by a score of 89-58. The Tigers return to Memphis with a 4-4 overall record.
Sophomore guard was named to the Junkanoo Jam All-Star Team after averaging 20.5 points per game in the tournament. Shutes scored a career-high 27 in the win against Kansas State.
The contest started in a back-and-forth fashion as Memphis took an early 4-2 lead. LSU found momentum quickly, however, and rattled off an 18-5 run to take a 15-point lead over the Tigers with 2:09 remaining in the first quarter.
