The University of Memphis athletic department announced today that it will provide full cost-of-attendance for student-athletes in men’s and women’s basketball and stipends for those in other sports.
Men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes are now eligible to receive $5,373 during the 2015-16 academic year, a figure that was determined by the university’s financial aid office and reported by The Commercial Appeal in May. Student-athletes in football, volleyball and women’s tennis will be given a $3,000 stipend for the upcoming year. Female student-athletes in other sports will receive a stipend proportional to their grant and aid, up to $3,000.
