WEST POINT, Miss. - On a day in which the opening round was moved and later shortened because of large amounts of rainfall the night earlier, the Memphis Tigers carded an opening-round 298 to stand in a three-way tie for 13th overall in the field.
Memphis' 298 is tied with South Alabama and Louisiana, and are just five strokes out of ninth place, with Kansas State (293), Southern Miss (295), Louisiana Tech (296), and Rice (297) all standing just ahead of the Tigers.
Leading the way for the Tigers on the opening day on the par-72, 7,088-yard course was the duo of JC Campbell and Sydney Chung who each carded a 74 (+2), while Colin Dubnik and Kevin Lee each shot a 75 (+3) on the balanced Memphis squad.
