Tigers Hold on in 5-3 Win Over Alabama A&M

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers (5-2) got all they could handle Tuesday from the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (0-6) but persevered through threats in each of the final three innings in a 5-3 win. The Bulldogs stranded the potential tying runs on base in the seventh, at the plate in the eighth, and on base in the ninth.

Memphis: 5, Alabama A&M: 3

How it happened:

  • Two first inning errors by Alabama A&M led to two Memphis runs, as LF Ian Bibiloni scored on a groundout by SS Ben Brooks and DH Jacob Compton scored a fly out turned error off the bat of C Taylor Howell
  • In his first Memphis start, RHP Landon Gartman (W, 1-0) gave up a single in each of his first three innings but kept the Bulldogs off the board
  • After the Tigers got a run in the third on another Alabama A&M error, the Bulldogs pulled within one on a fourth inning two-run home run from C Dillon Roop, as Memphis led 3-2 after 3.
