MEMPHIS, Tenn. – If you were one of the 40,177 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium Saturday, you, once again, witnessed University of Memphis football history.
With its thrilling 30-27 victory over No. 25/24 Navy, the Tigers won its second game over a ranked opponent in 2017. It is the first time in program history Memphis posted two wins over ranked foes in a season. Earlier this season, the Tigers upset No. 25 UCLA 48-45 at the Liberty Bowl.
Coming into Saturday's game, all the talk was about the two teams' offenses. However, it was the defenses that shined.
