Tigers fall to No. 2 Vanderbilt

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Facing its highest-ranked opponent since 2010, Memphis women's tennis couldn't capture the momentum needed for an upset against the nation's second-ranked squad.

The Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision at No. 2 Vanderbilt to open its season at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Nashville. Memphis will face a quick turnaround as the Tigers play Winthrop Saturday morning.

"Vanderbilt is a strong team and deserves credit for playing a good match," head coach Hayden Perez said. "Our girls competed hard and I was proud of our efforts. This was our first match of the season and I loved watching them play.
