Tigers fall to Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team fell just short Saturday afternoon to the visiting Eastern Kentucky Colonels by a score of 63-60. The Tigers drop to 1-1 on the young season.

Sophomore Jamirah Shutes led the Tigers with her first career double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Madison Griggs added 11 points for her first double-digit performance at Memphis.

Though the offense for both teams started slowly, a defensive pressure in the half court stymied any chance the Colonels had at producing offensively.
