AUBURN, Ala. – Memphis women's tennis suffered a 7-0 setback against SEC opponent Auburn Sunday afternoon.
The home-team Tigers took the doubles point after claiming courts 1 and 3 to gain the early advantage.
Memphis struggled to make any headway on singles courts, as Auburn claimed courts 2, 4, 5 and 6 in straight sets.
Freshman Aran Teixido Garcia took her first set against No. 123 Yu Chen before dropping the second set. The match would end with Chen holding on for an 10-8 final in the third set tiebreak.
Junior Laura Bente, playing on court 1, won her first set with a 6-1 score.
