GREENVILLE, N.C. – Early runs by ECU proved to be too much to overcome Sunday afternoon as the University of Memphis softball team fell by a score of 4-1 to the Pirates. The Tigers drop to 29-11 on the year and 5-4 in American Athletic Conference play.
A two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning by ECU gave the Pirates the only lead they needed in the contest. ECU tacked on one more run in the bottom of the third inning before Memphis was able to answer during the next half inning.
Back-to-back walks combined with a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly by Brooke Lee drove in the lone Memphis run of the ball game.
