NEW ORLEANS, La. – Memphis scored five runs in the second inning and Matt Ferguson tossed his first career complete game as Memphis blasted No. 15 Tulane 8-1 to even the series Saturday at Turchin Stadium.
Ferguson was following up a career-long eight inning start against Houston last week in which he allowed just two runs to get a no decision. The senior was even more outstanding Saturday against the first place Green Wave. He allowed just one run on four hits through nine innings to record his fifth win of the season.
Memphis (17-34, 8-12 American) exploded for five runs on five hits in the top of the second inning to jump out to a big lead over the Green Wave and the Tigers cruised from there.
