MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis freshman guard has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week this week after a stellar performance against Nicholls State on Dec. 21. This is the first conference honor for Barnes and the first Player of the Week mention for the Tigers this season.
Against the Colonels, Barnes scored a career-high 21 points along with pulling down six rebounds and registering four assists. For the game, Barnes went 13-for-15 from the free throw line including 7-for-8 in the 48 seconds of play to help lead the Tigers to the victory.
