WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Memphis softball team fell Saturday afternoon to Wichita State by a score of 11-1. Memphis falls to 22-8 on the year and 1-1 in American Athletic Conference play and looks to take the series against the Shockers tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.
Wichita State took an early lead against the Tigers and continued to score throughout the contest. Memphis put a run up on the scoreboard in the fourth and had the opportunity to tie it with the bases loaded, but a pop out ended the Memphis rally.
Four more runs in the bottom of the fifth by Wichita State including a three-run home run ended Memphis' hopes at a late-inning rally.
