STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Memphis softball team outhit the No. 22 Mississippi State Bulldogs Tuesday evening but fell by a score of 3-1 in Starkville, Miss. The Tigers drop the season series to the Bulldogs and fall to 30-15 on the year.
Mississippi State put up two runs in the second and one in the third to take an early lead over the Tigers. Memphis wasn't going down without a fight and proved that by outhitting the No. 22 ranked Bulldogs, 8-5.
The Tigers scored one run in the top of the fifth in an attempt at a rally, but stranded a pair of runners at second and third.
