MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis defender Kimberley Smit has collected her second American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award this season following her performance last Thursday night in the team's 4-0 win over Temple, the conference announced Monday.
Smit, who helped lead the Tiger's defense to their sixth shutout of the season, also got in on the scoring action; in the 31' of action, Smit took a free kick about two yards outside the side of the box and curved it in for Memphis' for goal of the match and Smit's first goal of the season.
