Simpson Named AAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for Second-Straight Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Track & Field athlete Amber Simspon was named American Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second-consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Simpson threw a lifetime-best mark of 68.13 meters (223'6") in the hammer throw on home turf at the annual Memphis Invitational on April 28, breaking the meet, facility and school records in the process. Additionally, she improved her already No. 8 mark in the NCAA this season to No. 6 in the country.

The native of Wales will aim to finish her season as an All American for the first time.
