TAIPEI, Taiwan – Ashley Pryke, a rising junior on the University of Memphis track and field squad, finished 13th in the Qualification Group A of the women's javelin at the 2017 World University Games Wednesday. She had a mark of 158-10 (48.41m) and did not advance to Friday's final in the event.
Pryke, who was competing in her first World University Games, was the third-youngest thrower in Qualification Group A. Pryke returns to campus next week to begin the 2017 fall semester and her third collegiate season with the Tigers.
The Peterborough, Ontario native had a tremendous sophomore campaign in 2017, culminating in a third-place (bronze) finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in early June.
