MEMPHIS -- The Memphis men's tennis team went 5-1 on the opening day of the Coach Dick LaLance 4-Man Showcase at Middle Tennessee, Friday.
Memphis split its doubles matches to begin the morning, with the team of and downing the team of Alejandro Manzanares and Daniel Cardenas, 8-6. In the other doubles match against Lipscomb foes, the team of and dropped and 8-5 decision to the team of Thais Minet and George Wong.
On the singles side, Memphis went 4-0. Pallares upended Manzanares, a junior, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Manji added a 6-3, 6-4 win against Cardenas while Story grabbed a straight set 6-1, 6-3 victory.
