MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis men's tennis team capped its 2016 season as the number three ranked team in the Ohio Valley Region and had three returning singles players returning among the top 15 in the region.
As a team, Memphis ranked third behind Kentucky and Vanderbilt and ahead of Purdue, Indiana, East Tennessee State, Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State, Louisville and Tennessee Tech. The Tigers actually played three of those opponents last year, winning all three, winning at Vanderbilt and defeating Louisville at a neutral site. Memphis also downed Tennessee Tech in a home match last season.
