MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis men's tennis team (14-6) won the doubles point and weathered a comeback from Florida Gulf Coast (7-12), the defending Atlantic Sun Conference Champs, for a 4-2 win Saturday.
Memphis won the doubles point thanks to wins from two and three doubles. Kai Lemke and Jan Pallares then pushed the lead to 3-0 and were looking for teammates to close out the victory when the home-standing Eagles started their comeback on their senior day. FGCU grabbed wins at five and one singles to pull to 3-2 down and it was Andrew Watson's three-set win at two singles that sealed the Tiger victory.
