Men's golf in third place after opening day at Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The state of South Carolina is beginning to look like the University of Memphis golf team's second home.

A week after finishing third in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at Hilton Head, S.C., the Tigers find themselves in third place at the Colleton River Intercollegiate in Bluffton, S.C., after shooting a 1-under 575. Michigan State, at 13-under 563, leads the 14-team field, four strokes ahead of Iowa State (567) and 12 strokes better than Memphis.

The UofM's second round was its best. The Tigers fired a 5-under 283 on the 7,180-yard layout at the Colleton River Club's Pete Dye Course.
