MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis pounded out a nine-run first inning to jump out to a 9-1 lead and then held on for a 9-8 win to clinch the series over Georgia Southern Sunday at FedExPark. The Tigers (7-3) have won back-to-back weekend series for the first time since 2015.
The Tigers nine-run second inning saw 15 batters come to the plate. The Tigers had six hits in the inning and the Eagles committed three errors. In all, the entire first inning lasted a total of 54 minutes.
Zach Schritenthal started the game by reaching on an error before Brandon Grudzielanek smashed a two-run home run to left field to give the Tigers the 2-1 lead.
