CLEARWATER, Fla. – Jake Overbey recorded a career-high three hits but Memphis couldn not overcome a pair of three-run innings by UConn as the Huskies won ??-?? in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
Memphis (19-38) will now face No. 2 East Carolina (34-20-1) in an elimination game Thursday at 10 a.m. (CT). The Tigers lost two-of-three to the Pirates in the series played at FedExPark back in April.
The Tigers took an early lead on three singles in the top of the second inning with Overbey dumping an RBI single into left field to score Zach Schritenthal.
