Memphis Drops Pitcher’s Duel 2-1 to Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Memphis was held to just one run on three hits by Tennessee in a 2-1 loss Saturday in the Tri-Star Classic at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Tigers (4-6) got solid pitching from Jonathan Bowlan and Alex Smith in the loss.

Memphis will play its final game of the Tri-Star Classic against East Tennessee State Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT).

Bowlan started and tossed five innings, allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out seven batters and walked four. Smith pitched 2.2 innings and allowed only one run.

The Tigers' only run of the game came on an eight-inning solo home run by Colton Neel.
