Joe Salisbury Moves One Step Closer to Wimbledon

MEMPHIS – Former men's tennis player Joe Salisbury is making the most of a wild card entry in to the Wimbledon Qualifying Draw. On Tuesday, after a lengthy Monday rain delay pushed his first round match back a day, Salisbury came from a set down to upend the number 163 ranked player in the world, Alessandro Gianessi, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

In the second round, scheduled to be played Wednesday, Salisbury will face American Austin Krajicek. Krajicek appeared in the Australian Open, advancing to the second round, back in January and is currently ranked 95 in the world.
