As we approach the beginning of what we all hope will be another successful football season I would like to bring you a snapshot of Tiger football history.
The time: Sept. 21, 1963
The place: Crump Stadium, Memphis, Tennessee
The “Memphis State Tigers” took the field on this Saturday evening to play our greatest rival and nemesis at the time – the “Ole Miss Rebels.” The Rebels were ranked #1 in the nation that year in one preseason poll.
At that time in our past “Ole Miss” was the only SEC team that would play us.
