EUGENE, Ore. – University of Memphis finished the first day of competition in the men's decathlon at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships Wednesday. He is in 19 place with 3782 points after five events.
The University of Oregon's Hayward Field is hosting the four-day national meet.
Hanssler's best first-day performances were in the two track events – 100 and 400 meters. The Tigers senior placed 10 in the 400 meters (49.78) and 12 in the 100 meters (11.05). Hanssler's 400 meters time was only 0.5 off his personal-best in the event (49.28).
The Ratingen, Germany, native's top field finish came in the high jump, where he placed 17 (6-2.
