PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis sophomore has been the American Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It is the first conference accolade of Gleason's career.
In Saturday's season-opening race at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Collierville, Gleason led the Tigers as the team's top finisher in the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic. Memphis placed fourth as a team in the event.
Gleason placed sixth in a time of 20:01.95 on the Twilight Classic's four-mile course. His time of 20:01.95 was the best by a Tiger in the Twilight Classic since the men's race changed to a four-mile format in 2011.
