A junior from Aurora, Ontario, Sandwell is one of the women's squad's leaders heading into Thursday's American Athletic Conference Championship in New Orleans, La. After missing the 2018 season opener due to injury, Sandwell placed in the top-30 in the next three races, including a fifth-place performance at the Rhodes College Invitational Sept. 15.
For her career, Sandwell has run in 15 events, including two American Athletic Conference Championships and two NCAA South Regionals. She has nine career top-30 finishes and placed 25at the 2017 league championships. Sandwell ran her 6k personal-best time in last year's Crimson Classic and posted her 5k personal-best time at the Greater Louisville Classic earlier this season.
